If you are like me and consume a lot of data every day in other words a heavy-duty internet user then you are very familiar with the struggle and the sheer frustration that comes with the high latency and slow speeds. it can depressed tp everyone. When you are in the middle of something very important and it just gets stuck or doesn’t load.
I use Wi-Fi pretty much throughout the day for everything from streaming, entertainment to gaming on my personal computer. I had such issues in the past and resolved them by changing my ISP or by resetting the router but these issues aren’t caused by my ISP. But rather the walls in my house are very thick and so the Wi-Fi signals are unable to pass through every room resulting in dwindling speeds and terrible range.
I decided that I had enough of this problem and so searched online for a solution. I then purchased a tp link re305 repeater and it performed exactly as advertised. It offered twice the range and speed that other extenders in the market had to offer all while being very affordable. The tplink re305 repeater setup instructions are given below.
Setting up the tplink re305 repeater
The entire set-up process is a very simple task. It doesn’t require much technical know-how and can be done by anyone who can read the instructions. I set up the repeater in around 10 minutes. But, before setting up the extender carefully unbox it and remove all the pieces of packaging, then plug it into a power socket and turn it on, then begins the actual setup process.
Now, once the repeater has been turned on you can set it up using one of two ways either by using an ethernet cable or by wirelessly connecting it with your smartphone. To set it up using an ethernet cable connect the ethernet cable to the extender and then insert the other end into your personal computer and head over to the default gateway by typing in the default i.p address and enter your login credentials or you can also head over to the tplinkrepeater.net login page and set up the extender from there.

Once you have logged in to the page you can change the SSID and password of your repeater and set it as a different AP or you can connect to your existing router by selecting the scan option and clicking on your router from the list of available devices.
Set-up the extender using WPS button
If you choose to set up the extender wirelessly then make sure that the extender is connected with your smartphone or laptop. Then the setup process is pretty much the same. After the setup has been completed you can now enter the tplinkrepeater password to connect other devices to it.
You can also set-up the extender using WPS button, to do that press and hold the WPS button at the back of the repeater for about 5 seconds till the lights start flashing, then do the same on the main Wi-Fi router. At one time just need to connect. If Once the connection has been established you will see that the internet symbol. This concludes the setup for the extender.
Extender troubleshooting and firmware update
If at any point during the setup you encounter any issues/difficulties. Or if you think that you want to start the setup process again because. You think that you made a few mistakes then follow the instructions given below. I did encounter a few issues and the instructions which are given below are the ones I tried. If your repeater is not connecting to http //tplinkrepeater.net login address then try rebooting your repeater and your router.
If that didn’t solve your problem then try factory resetting your extender. To do that press and hold the reset button for 2 seconds. Till the lights start flashing rapidly then wait for 2 minutes till the device completes the resetting process. Just follow the above-mentioned setup instructions to properly setup your extender.
If none of these tips work then update your extender. Firmware by logging into the default page and clicking the update option in the system settings.
